Olare Orok Conservancy is owned by the masai landowners and this community directly benefit from 100% of the rents being paid by tourism partners with mobile bush camps within the conservancy. These landowners have facilitated the core area, completely free of settlement. In times of low tourism, management directs a strict rotational grazing regime which is beneficial to the grasslands with parts of the conservancy intensively grazed during the long rains season and other areas left with naturally grazed wildlife habitat. This policy benefits the landowners livestock and ensures diversity of wildlife species through these different grazing regimes. In times of intense drought parts of the conservancy are made available as a dry weather grass bank to ensure landowner livestock survive these droughts.
Olare Orok Trust has facilitated capacity building to the community through the Koiyaki guiding school
